Oh, the English language vocabulary is forever growing. Remember when the terms ginormous, Sudoku, telenovelas, DVR and many others were included in the last edition of the Mirriam-Webster dictionary?

Well, this year’s edition includes crowdsourcing, boomerang child, fist bump, tweet (makes sense), bromance (huh?), and cougar (no, it’s not the feline cat). Incidentally, these terms are all inspired by the use of social media.

Wordsmiths monitor usage of words in the spoken language and in the media to determine whether they ought to be officially added to the dictionary.
